My name is Sam Strain and after 5 years of service to Bally Total Fitness as a personal trainer and achieving a level 5 status (there is no 6) I decided to commit myself to being an independent personal trainer. Working at Bally Total Fitness allowed me the opportunity to develop my unique training skills and techniques while working with many body types..old..young..male..female..hard to lose..hard to gain..tall..short... .athletic...model..actor..singer..pre-surgery..post surgery..dancer..prancer..extreme sedentary.
During my time at Bally's I created a practice based on Yoga-Pilates-and Super Slow techniques. I developed and taught a small group personal training class called "Core Strength and Flexibility". I am currently working on a new discipline called "Pure Power". I was on the top 20 personal trainer list several times for our region which consisted of 7 facilities from Hollywood to Simi Valley.
I built a reputation as a no nonsense focused trainer. Anybody can tell you "you can do it". My job is tomake sure you do it right. To challenge you along the way. To give you a workout you couldn't and wouldn't possibly give yourself. I won't do the work for you. If you can talk during the workout then your notworking hard enough, and you can count on me to notch it up. If you can't finish a set of reps, don't worry, I'll give you another chance and you'll just have to start all over, and over, and over until you get it right. All along the way you will grow and tell yourself "I can do that".
I believe in training and educating the client so they are able to move on without me. I don't look to become a paid extended friend that wants a cozy relationship with your wallet. Attack the work. Get it done. Moveon. The quicker I get the client in better shape, the more business I get, so you see I have a big interest in making it happen for you. I'd like to think I'm friendly in a kick your butt trainer kind of way. I wont lie to you. If I don't think I'm a good match for you or I don't think I have the right skill set for you I'll tell you. In the end I remain true to the most important rule and why I got in this business, I'm here to help you.
I alpine ski and raced GS on an amateur level for 3 years. I still ski today. I've been riding a road bike for over 10 years and have ridden in the L.A. bike tour for the last 14 years. I've been on a few tri teams for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. I still like the jump rope.
